How To Get Along With Older People In The Family |
1) Plan outings with them, if their health permits. Take them out to movies, dinners or anything else they're likely to enjoy.
2)
Help them rekindle an old interest or hobby they've given up. Older people in the family often abandon activities they enjoy during the hectic years of raising a family and running the house. Help them find avenues where they can revive these interests.
3) Tell them a bit about what you do outside home. Young people are often surprised at how sympathetic and interested grandparents and other older family members are when they explain the workings of their office or classroom to them.
4) Get them off the TV and involved in some form of exercise and socialising. They'll be more cheerful for it, and will feel closer to you for having taken the effort to make their lives a little fuller.
