Warning Signs That Your Marriage Is Heading For Divorce

WHAT ARE the signs of cracks in a marriage? Fact is, men and women go through behavioural changes when they know there's something wrong in a relationship. When a relationship sours, you start detaching yourself from your partner. Generally a woman leaves the household work and spends more time in styling herself. Men start coming late from office, they hang around with friends. Partners avoid communication, shy away from talking. These are vital signs that the relationship is not the same.

So here are some tell-tale signs and behaviourial ups and downs of men and women, warning you that divorce is not a far away reality.

The Fishy Man

- When a man generally comes late and leaves early for office, shows little or no interest in any of the wife's talks. It means he is ignoring his married life and is happy to leave her now. The main reasons for divorce are adultery, illness of a spouse, dominating behaviour, finacial and emotional insecurity. Many people do say that their nature goes through a drastic change during the divorce period. A man tries to keep aloof and even changes his mobile number. And women make effort to secure good substantial amount as alimony.

- When a man becomes so withdrawn that no amount of coaxing, cajoling or promises of rampant sex can alter his state of indifference. In this situation he has switched off from his wife in anticipation of a new and better life.

- When a man indulges in new hobbies, it means he has found a perfect excuse to get out of the house to meet the fresh love of his life.

- Going for a makeover of hairstyle and colorful clothing often indicates that a man wants a change in his overall life including the wife.

- If a man is permanently glued to mobile phone and Internet chat then surely he is hiding something big.

- Another favourite for husbands who want to get out of the marriage is to criticise the wife for even the smallest of the thing. Says James Ray, who has been divorced after 15 years of marriage, "It is very true when you prepare yourself for a divorce, you want to disconnect with everything relating to the past and wish to begin in a new way. I was more worried with the financial settlement that I will face at the time of divorce and started visiting lawyers and marriage experts almost a year before the divorce."

The Cheating Wife

- When a woman totally gives up the household responsibility and joins a gym, aerobics, dance or some other hobby class, it means she now wants to live her life freely and on her own terms. Says Monica MacKenzie, 31, recently-divorced, "A divorce brings so many changes from top to bottom in you. The expectations, behaviour and lifestyle transform totally and you shed away your obligations as a wife, mother and daughter-in-law. You start prioritising your needs and desires and realise that it's your life and you want to live it in your own way."

- A change of appearance and dramatic weight loss is the biggest warning for a husband that soon he will be a history for her wife. The women will spend more time in beauty salons and spas.

- Plastic surgery is now but obvious for women intending divorce.

- A cheating wife may well accuse her husband of having an affair to divert attention away from her own. This tactic is known as 'transference'.

- When a wife's spending habits radically change and she starts to increase the family outgoings beyond reason, she may have received legal advice and be attempting to maximise her 'lifestyle needs'.

The most common causes for divorce are extra marital affair, physical violence and family adjustment issues. Carolyn, 26, went for an absolute fabulous makeover and lost weight when she got the news that her husband is having an affair with a younger woman. There are two cases; either a woman will go into depression or she will fight back and punish the husband, a lot depends on the economic situation.
