Avoid Exploiting Your Partner 

First things first, prevent exploitation of your partner in any way. If by any chance you take a financial favour, please return it however hurt you may feel. When it comes to the society, living like a freeloader is not acceptable as it affects your respect. This type of reputation of being a scrounger will eventually spread and you will eventually be left out of options.

Reputation is character spelled differently and it helps you in the long run. If you show respect, you will get respect. Goodwill and respect will not only help you in your relationship but also would make you feel happy about yourself.
