Courting a Successful Woman

If any situation deserves to be quoted as an example for how extremely different men’s reactions can be to a given situation, it is this. While, some men would whoop with joy at the idea of dating a woman more successful than them, other men would shudder at the idea. There is something about successful women that attracts men, yet at the same time, discomposes them.

Though it may vary from person to person, most men who disapprove of successful women are insecure in some way or the other. Most of their antipathy is based on the knowledge that they can never equal the success of the female in question. The reason behind their dislike is not the success of the other, but the limitations in themselves.

Since ancient times, men have been considered as the bread-winners of the society, whereas women were always associated with looking after the household. Some people still live by these rules and consider any working woman worthy of their contempt, as though she were breaking some unwritten law.

Then there is the question of the fragile male ego… Any woman who makes more money than they do is to be envied. Jealousy leads them into believing that the reason for the female’s success is not her hard work or capability but the fact that she is a woman. A successful female has to ignore and live with all the slander that men dish out to her.

However, there are men who truly respect the women who are more capable than they are. These are the REAL men, the ones who are not insecure about themselves and know that they too can achieve what the women have. Getting into a relationship with such a man will usually benefit the female. This is because, not only will the man be proud of you but will also want to show you off. These men will do their best to help you if you ever need it. They will pamper you and tell you when you need to relax.

But there are also those men who will pretend to be in awe of successful females and will show their respect in any way possible. In reality, their only intention is to use the more triumphant woman in order to help their own career. Beware of men who flatter you too much. It happens so often in offices that men fawn over their female boss. It happens for a reason. Getting help from a more successful co-worker might get them a raise or a promotion. If they start asking for monetary favours, you know you are being used.

How can one escape from these ruthless men? Make it clear that you do not mix personal and professional lives. Tell them that they must never expect any favouritism from you. If the affection is true you will find out within a week or two. Otherwise, dump him. Unless you want a parasite leeching out the benefits of your hard work!
